Editors over the hill

Posted in Personal, Photography, iphone, twitter on September 11th, 2009 by admin

Well yet again I’m iPhone app-mad and yet again wish the camera on said phone was just a bit better because the results would be excellent rather than just good.

Here’s a couple of images shot in tricky light conditions for a normal camera, let alone a phone!

The first is from the opening night at the new O2 Academy live music venue in Birmingham, with Editors giving a great show!  The shot is made up of around three images put together and then processed to give a nice B&W image.  I think the whole thing took about 5mins from snap to send via Twitter.

Walkin the iphone

The sun finally came out after a few days of rain and I needed some fresh air, so I thought a walk up the Clent Hills would do the job.

Now I’ve gone off for a walk with my camera over my shoulder before but this time I opted for the iPhone as my camera with a view to shoot process in the apps and then Twitter them out to the rest of the world.

Cardiff image blog

Here are some images from the Cardiff bay area on from last weekend. All captured on the iPhone, with a little post production in a few new apps.

Now if only Apple would just improve the quality of the camera it would become a great little set up, it’s just lacking a few mega pixles.

Away to Cardiff/#4gomadinwales

OK so I’ve been totally rubbish of late when it comes to the blog due to one thing and another, but all that’s going to change starting this weekend!

I’ve been stacked with work for the last two months (not that I’m moaning, it’s great to be working in these money strapped times) so have been looking forward to a weekend away.

I had been to Cardiff once before on the way back from a bike race and thought the whole bay area was fab and would make a great short break, so here we are, with good friends Clare and Richard.

Never Mind the Craic

I sing in a choir called Notorious (see the gallery on the website that is call “Notorious” for all the flyers I have shot to promo our gigs over the last few years) and spent last Sunday singing three gigs in three Irish pubs around Digbeth.  This was shot in the last pub The Spotted Dog by a member of the audience that turned out to be posting for www.digbeth.org, you can just about see me under the picture on the chimney breast-I’m the one with the red hair!

February is the new summer again!

Posted in Personal on March 30th, 2009 by admin

Well it’s taken me ages but I am finally getting round to posting images from a break to Cornwall this Feb.  Again we were very very lucky with the weather as per the previous year when we spent a week in Malham Yorkshire, when we found ourselves out on the mountain bikes in shorts!

These images from Malham were all shot on my my then new Canon G9, which is a great little 12 mega pix camera and is just the job for keeping in the pocket just in case!  Theses are all raw file images (think of a raw file as a digital negative waiting to be told what colour balance it should be or where the blacks should be set) which gives a good deal of latitude for tweaking post production, not a feature that’s all that common on compacts.

All better for Christmas!

The summer must be here as the Tour de France is on tv and the sun has even shone on our first family barbecue of the year, so I though a shot from my brothers garden would sum up both as there’s always shots of the Tour peloton sweeping past fields of sun flowers to make you wish you had braved the traffic a made the trip to France!

Just got back from a week in Cornwall and yet again we were very lucky with the weather, just like the week in February when we were out on the mountain bikes in T shirts!

We were staying about 4 miles from lands end in a barn conversion and it was very nice to! We did the usual stuff of good food and wine with some great walks in about the best spells of sunshine I have seen for ages in what seems like a summer of rain rain rain!

Lets Ride!

Short break up north in a very nice lodge at Ravenscar south of Whitby and enjoying about the best weather of the summer so far! A fantastic view, maybe only bettered by the one from the boat?
